SA gospel great Sipho Makhabane to perform at Bicc

After failing to perform in Malawi last year because of administration hitches, South African gospel great Sipho Makhabane has confirmed that  next month he will be at the Bingu International Convetion Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe during the launch of The Great Angel Choir website.

The musician confirmed through a video posting accessed by The Nation.

“Hie, this is Sipho Makhabane, the big fish from South Africa. On 29 September, I am coming to Malawi to the launch of Great Angels choir at Bicc in Lilongwe. Be there!” confirms Makhabane in the video.

Makhabane: I am coming to Malawi

He has promised to bring his seven-man band, adding that he will perform for three hours.

On the menu will be songs from his popular albums, Thumlomlong, Jesus Uliqhane, Yek-intokoza and Ebenezer.

Explaining the new project, The Great Angels Choir music director Ephraim Zonda said the launch of the website is about growing up and taking a professional direction in the music industry.

Said Zonda: “As you know, the world is moving with technology that is why, as a choir, we decided to have our own website. We want to grow as a choir. Without a website it was difficult for people to know us well and access our music. But now people will be able to access information easily.

“People will be buying our songs online and we will be generating money from the website. Companies will be able to put their products on the website and people in other countries will get to know us. It is an exciting project.”

He said they decided to invite Makhabane to give the event the VIP status.

“It will be a great experience to share the stage with such a legendary musician. He has done it all and we will learn a lot from him. We are all excited about this. It will be a great moment in our music career,” said Zonda. n
