“Kabuscorp do Palanca defeated Benfica de Luanda by 3-0 at Luanda’s Coqueiros Stadium, in the opening of the eighth round of the national first division football championship (Girabola2012).  The goals were scored by Daniel Mpelempele,” reported Angola news agency on Saturday.

“With this result, Kabuscorp do Palanca rose to fourth position with 13 points, whilst Benfica de Luanda remain eighth with 10 points. Petro de Luanda lead the competition with 17 points.”

Before the game, Sangala was excited with the prospect of rubbing shoulders against the former World Cup winner and World Player of the Year.

“They made him [Rivaldo] captain. He has been a very important player for their team, with his experience and skill. I went to watch their game last week. I was amazed with his quality, considering his age,” Sangala said on Monday.

The coming to Angola of the Brazilian football superstar hit world football headlines. He is expected to help in lifting football standards for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations hosts.
