Silver offer Mgangira two-year deal

Silver Strikers have offered their legend Peter ‘Shoes’ Mgangira a two-year deal as a second assistant coach.

The Bankers general secretary (GS) Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda said Mgangira has been offered a permanent role after impressing during his temporary stint.

Mgangira: It is
an honour

“Initially he was engaged to fill the void created by [first] assistant coach Lovemore Fazili’s appointment into the Under-20 national team technical panel.

“He [Mgangira] is now expected to maintain the football philosophy associated with Silver Strikers. We also expect him to instil a hardworking spirit in the players,” said the GS.

Nyirenda also said there are set targets to be achieved, saying his appointment is result-oriented.

“He has a shared responsibility with the head coach [Young Chimodzi] and his co-assistant [Fazili] to ensure that the team succeeds.”

On his part, Mgangira said he feels honoured to be entrusted with such a task and takes it as a challenge.

“I thank the management for its faith in me. It will also be an honour to work with senior coaches such as Chimodzi and Fazili. I stand to learn a lot from them as I did during my playing days,” he said.
