Silver Strikers will this afternoon march to Kamuzu Stadium with one mission—revenge—as the  Bankers take on Nyasa Big Bullets in the round of 16 of the Fisd Challenge Cup .

In July, Silver led in a league encounter through striker Mathews Sibale at the same venue, but Bullets equalised through Chiukepo Msowoya’s penalty before Diverson Mlozi claimed the winner.

The Bankers attributed their loss to poor officiation and coach Lovemore Fazili on Monday pleaded for fair play in this afternoon’s clash.

He said: “Officiation is one of the problems that we face when we play at Kamuzu Stadium. The last time we played them [Bullets], the officiation was  bad. We are pleading with FAM [Football Association of Malawi] to ensure they assign competent referees,”

However, Big Bullets have accused the Bankers of playing mind games ahead of the clash.

“Let them just come and play. Why start complaining of officiation even before the match is played? I think they are just looking for an excuse in case they lose,” said Bullets general secretary Kelvin Moyo.

Ironically, the two sides clash again on Sunday at Silver Stadium in a battle for the top position.

Silver lead the table with 42 points from 22 games while Bullets are breathing down the Bankers neck with 41 points from 23 games.

Silver general secretary Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda feared that fatigue would take a toll on the two sides, as they also played last weekend.

“It’s like we will have played three games within seven days, which is not healthy at all,” he said.

In other Fisd Challenge Cup matches to be played today, Blue Eagles host Civo United at Nankhaka.

The match between Lake Valley FC and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers has been shifted from Silver Stadium to Civo Stadium, according to FAM competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka.

On Saturday, Tiakalulu host Dululu at Nankhaka Stadium while Nsanama face Rumphi Pirates at Balaka Stadium.
