Silver Strikers have found a replacement for their last season top hitman Chawanagwa Kaonga in Ghanaian Sawo Saiwo.

The Ghanaian has been impressive in the pre-season preparation. On Sunday, Saiwo scored in a 1-1 draw against Red Lions.

“He is good. We will definitely give him a contract. He is good replacement for Chawanangwa [Kaonga],” said Silver treasurer Fred Kalonga when asked about players his club will be signing for next season.

Saiwo is expected to partner either Peter Wadabwa or Rodrick Gonani in front.

Apart from Saiwo, Silver have also beefed up their squad with some players from their reserve side.

Next season, Silver will miss the services of Kaonga, Frank Banda, and Charles Swini who are all plying their trade in Mozambique.

“Our biggest headache is to find a stable goalkeeper, but in the other areas we are well covered,” said Kalonga.

Be Forward Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa was linked with a move to Silver, but nothing has been concluded yet.

Silver chairperson MacDonald Mafuta-Mwale has since said they have set the Super League title as the target for next season.

“It will be tough, but we can do it with good preparation,” he said.
