Skippers in Presidential Cup quarterfinals

Skippers FC are through to the quarter-final of the Central Region Presidential Women Football Cup after they trounced Stinners FC 18-0 at Dowa TTC ground.

National team striker Linda Kasenda led the massacre, netting eight goals to set the pace in the Golden Boot Award race.

Tifa Malunjika and Omega Kapulukira scored a hat-trick each while Bridget Mkuzilire claimed a brace. Dyce Lingo and Fatsani Kazembe scored a goal each.

It was a one sided game and at half time Skippers were leading 8-0.

Kasenda said the game was a mismatch.

“It wasn’t a strong side and we could have won with much wider margin,” she said.

In other matches, Lilongwe Stars beat Ntchisi Queens 7-1 while Kauma stunned Dedza Select 3-0.

Twinkers FC of Salima sailed through to the last eight after Chilinde Queens failed to turn up for the match. Central Region Women Football Committee (CRWFC) general

secretary Ella Banda said the competition is running smoothly.

She, however, appealed to teams and officials to maintain discipline.
