The companies’ proprietor, Vijay Kotecha, said he decided to donate to the initiative because he feels a lot of pregnant mothers are not assisted appropriately when they have problems as doctor’s lack proper diagnostic medical devices.

“I feel we cannot help our mother’s if their problems cannot be diagnosed. With such equipment, the medical personnel in government hospitals will be able to help mothers and their unborn babies better.

“The first thing that a doctor will do is to measure the mother’s blood pressure or check if she has any disease that could cause complications during delivery, this is very important and can only be done properly if our doctors have proper diagnostic medical devices,” he said.

NPL research and information officer Maurice Kazembe Steercor for the donation.

“Most of these items are small, but important in the maternity wing. They are very crucial and will help to save lives in public hospitals,” he said.

This Saturday, NPL and its strategic partners through the fun run initiative will donate medical supplies and equipment to Qech and its 26 satellite hospitals.
