“These days most families, which were supposed to be a source of happiness, have been turned into battlefields. There are many social injustices taking place among us,” Stima said.

He said it was the responsibility of every Catholic faithful and a calling for all Christians as prophets to muster courage to protect those being victimised so that the truth could triumph.

The bishop was speaking during mass to celebrate St. Augustine’s Day—the patron Saint of Mangochi Diocese—held at St Louis Montfort Parish in Balaka last Saturday.

He reiterated the need for the church to be self–sustained in view of the fact that missionaries stopped supporting the church.
