Striking judicial staff deny meeting OPC

Striking Judiciary support staff have said they never held a meeting with the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), arguing judges who went to Lilongwe presented their own grievances.

The striking staff, in a letter addressed to the Department of Public Service Management in response to government’s call for them to return to work, yesterday said their interests were not fully represented because they did not get any feedback from that meeting.

The protesters argue government’s statement did not mention any progress made in addressing the substantive demands of the striking staff to implement in full the terms and conditions of service as approved by Parliament in 2006 and 2009.
