Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has set the ball rolling in readiness for the new season by setting up requirements for clubs registration.

In a letter signed by general secretary Williams Banda, addressed to all the clubs, Sulom has said no player shall be registered without a club/player contract, player licence, medical certificate of fitness, insurance, and clearances [in case of players moving from one club to the other].

“Any player or official that contravenes the transfer policy shall be banned from the league,” reads part of the letter which further states that all gate management shall be outsourced to third parties, in particular cashiering services.

“You are reminded to pay your outstandings prior to kick-off in particular affiliation fees as failure shall lead to forfeiture of points.”

It further states that in line with the Fifa Lilongwe Declaration, clubs are required to have an office, a contact address [e-mail], security committee, home and training grounds and security personnel.

Sulom also states that the transfer window opened on December 22 2014 and will run up to April 12 2015.

“The 2015 TNM Super League shall kick off on the18th April 2015 as per 2015 Malawi football calendar and the motto is “Every Champion Was Once a Contender,” reads part of the letter addressed to all the clubs.

It further states that all players on loan have since reverted back to their domicile teams and those intending to renew the loan deals are required to do so before April 10 2015.

Sulom also says Football Association of Malawi (FAM) will be licensing clubs as well as players from March 1.

“Pre-match meetings shall be held by prior to every game or any other day prior to the game to check in advance all identity cards, colours of match kits to be used during games.”

Teams have also been reminded to report for games 45 minutes prior to kick off and that any delay shall be penalised at a rate of K2 000 per minute payable before the next fixture, “as failure to pay shall lead to stiffer sanctions on your club.”

Clubs have been further reminded that Rules and Regulations clearly stipulate that clubs shall be responsible for the actions of their players, officials and supporters.

“No unauthorised official is allowed in the dressing room areas. Pitch invasion shall cost your club fortunes.

“All referees and match commissioners reports should reach the secretariat 48 hours after the games. Incident reports to reach secretariat 24 hours after the game. Your club must operate from the dressing rooms of the grounds when entering the pitch. This is where pre-pick off and on field of play activities start from,” reads part of Sulom’s communique.

Clubs have further been warned to desist from any acts of violence and hooliganism to avoid bringing the league and its sponsors into disrepute.

Surestream FC technical director Peter Mponda, whose team will be taking part in the flagship league for the first time, confirmed receipt of the communique.

“I think we have met most of the conditions contained in the letter and we are hopeful of finalising the rest in due course,” said Mponda. n
