Tabitha Chawinga, who plays football for Krokom Dvasatts Club in Sweden’s third-tier league, is leading the score chart with 28 goals.

Despite playing 14 of the 20 league games, her rivals on second and third position have 18 goals and 15 goals respectively.

Signed on a year-long contract from Lilongwe DD Sunshine, Chawinga netted the opener just recently in a 4-2 derby loss to Ostersund DDF.

“Things are moving on good path to my side. Although, we lost, I thank the Lord for giving me a goal,” the 18-year striker posted on her Facebook page.

She attributed her success in one of the European’s top women’s football country to hard work.

“It is good that God has blessed me with a hard working spirit. The performance, in my professional deal, is a sign of greater things to come,” she said.

National Women Football Committee (NWFC) chairperson Severia Chalira expressed gratitude over the development, saying she is expecting a lot of good things from the player.

“We are happy to hear such wonderful performance from the player. We know that with such good performance, she will open doors for other players in Europe,” she said.
