Tedzani resumes power generation Monday

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) is this  expected to resume power generation at Tedzani Power Station after it was temporarily closed over the Easter holiday.

Escom public relations manager Kitty Chingota told the media during a tour of the station on Friday that the corporation commissioned the rehabilitation work on Easter since most companies had a break.

“We know we have lost revenue by halting power generation, but such repairs are crucial to Escom. We closed Tedzani on Friday and Sunday and will resume on Monday [today] so that most parts of the country receive power,” he said.

The exercise involved removing weeds and silt from the Shire River.

“What we want is to ensure that Malawians have power; hence, the decision to work on the machines,” said Chingota.
