Impact Events renews beach soccer romance

Renowned musician Lucius Banda through his event management firm, Impact Events, has pledged to renew Central Region Beach Soccer League (CRBSL) sponsorship after a successful maiden edition.

Banda, who was absent during prize presentation last Saturday at Kambiri Lodge in Salima, said he is impressed with the progress and management of the league; hence, his decision to renew sponsorship.

Impact Events sponsored the inaugural edition to the tune of K1 million and Munali, who emerged champions, received K300 000 as their prize.

“I will sponsor the league next year and, obviously, I will increase the sponsorship package too,” said Banda.

He added that as organisers of Sand Music Festival, they share a common goal with beach soccer which is about promoting tourism.

Beach Soccer Malawi (BSM) president Kondwani Gondwe thanked Banda for his commitment to sponsoring the league and described the development as good news.

“He [Banda] has proved to be a true partner in the development of beach soccer. It is clear that he likes the sport and we are indebted to him for sponsoring the Central Region league. Most of our leagues have been struggling to get sponsorship. We will do everything to make sure he makes returns for investing in this sport,” said Gondwe.

CRBSL chairperson Leonard Mazombwe also expressed gratitude to Banda for investing in the league.

“We appreciate that despite the tough economic environment, he is still investing into sports, it is something commendable. The league this year has been more competitive because of his sponsorship,” he said. n
