Police in Lilongwe have said unidentified thugs last week killed a 31-year-old woman in Bunda forest in the district.

Lilongwe Police Station spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula told The Nation that the deceased, Liviness Gowa, went to search for a house-maid job at Bunda staff houses and was killed on her way back.

Dandaula: We are asking the public to help us with information

Dandaula said: “On the 21st April the deceased went to Bunda—Luanar staff houses to look for a job. On her way home, she passed through Bunda forest where she was attacked by unknown thugs.”

The incident happened around 11 o’clock in the morning.

According to Dandaula, the deceased walked a short distance before she collapsed and died.

Her body was taken to Mitundu Health Centre where a postmortem confirmed she was stabbed and died due to loss of blood.

Police are appealing to the public to assist them with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The incident has brought the number of people killed in the forest to four , following the gruesome murder of three family members from Rumphi District last year.

Gowa came from Mkwinda Village, Traditional Authority Chitseka in Lilongwe District.
