Lawrence Milanzi denied the force of gravity yesterday when he swung up and headed home the much needed goal for Azam Tigers to beat Mighty Wanderers 1-0 in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Milanzi’s goal that originated from Stanely Sanudi’s well-carved cross in the 53rd minute has deflated and displaced the Nomads from the eighth slot on the 15-team log table.

Tigers have moved two steps up with 19 points from 15 games while Nomads are ninth with 17 points from 16 matches.
Mapopa Kaunda and Khumbo Ng’ambi ticked for Wanderers, but they struggled to overcome the solid skills of Tigers defence marshalled by man-of-the-match Boston Kabango.

Wanderers head coach Gerald Phiri conceded defeat, saying his charges did not play according to their plan.
“We did not play our game. We featured the same team that played against Mafco last week, but we could not tick.
“Moreover, this was one of the games we believed we could lose,” he said.

Tiger’s stand-in coach Chikaiko Bridge was over the moon with the victory.
On the same day, Blue Eagles thrashed 14th-positioned Chikwawa United 4-1 to maintain their third place with 34 points from 17 games while Red Lions beat Mafco 1-0 to consolidate their fourth slot with 30 points from 17 outings.
Blantyre United and Epac United drew 1-1. n
