Tigers rope in Meke Mwase

Barely a few weeks after being officially fired by Silver Strikers FC as assistant coach, Meke Mwase has been taken on board at Azam Tigers FC.

Tigers technical director Robin Alufandika on Tuesday confirmed that Mwase has been hired as senior team assistant coach as well as head coach for the reserve and Under-20 sides.

“With effect from today [Tuesday], he is part of our technical panel and will be in charge of the reserve and youth teams apart from assisting the senior team head coach [Leo Mpulula].

“The targets we have set for him are that he should build strong reserve and junior teams, so that we can have a proper development structure,” Alufandika said.

He also said Tigers are preparing a contract for Mwase.

“We are still in the contractual talks, but he has started. We will finish the process while he is on board,” Alufandika said.

Mwase confirmed that he is now with the Kau-Kau Boys.

“Verbally, we have agreed on a year-long contract, so that they can assess my performance,” Mwase said.
