Former Big Bullets striker Tizgowere Kumwenda is on the verge of signing with Blue Eagles after his contract with Central Region giants Silver Strikers expired.

Blue Eagles team manager Ken Mponda and coach Audlow Makonyola confirmed that the striker started training with the Malawi Police Service (MPS) side this week.

“Of course, the player is training with us, but we haven’t signed him yet. He told us that he is a free agent and Silver released him,” said Mponda.

Kumwenda: I will give my all

The player said he is looking forward to joining the MPS side.

“I will give my all to get signed. There are good players, but I will just fight to break into the first team,” said Kumwenda.

Silver coach Lovemore Fazili said: “His contract with Silver expired. May be he felt like competition is going to be tough since we have registered two new players to beef up the striking force.”

Kumwenda, who had no game time at Silver last season, finished the Super League with three goals, after he scored against Azam Tigers and a brace against disbanded MTV Max Bullets.

Another off-loaded Silver player, Wonder Gelemani, is also trying his luck at Blue Eagles.
