A 20-member delegation from Female Three Ballers (F3b), a US-based charity organisation, is in the country to conduct basketball lessons targeting three secondary schools in Lilongwe.

The delegation, which is being led by Josephine Wilson, arrived in the country last Saturday, through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) and have already started conducting basketball clinics at Civo Court.

“We have brought underprivileged girls from the US to show them the worst scenario, that is, what being underprivileged really means. They will be accommodated where the Malawian girls are and they will eat the same food. After the clinics, we will take them on a sightseeing tour in Zanzibar,” she said.

Central Zone Basketball (Cezebol), which is hosting F3b, said the clinics will target underprivileged students at the three schools.

“They will be in the country for seven days. The clinics have drawn students from Lilongwe Girls, Chinsapo and Chipasula secondary schools. They are mainly targeting the underprivileged student and those who excel are in line to win scholarships to study in the US,” said Cezebol treasurer Amos Msekandiana.

“This is an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their basketball talent and be eligible for a scholarship. We urge the students to take the clinics seriously. It is a platform to greatness,” he said.

F3b have already been to Rwanda and Mozambique.
