VSO donates kits to Napham

Voluntary Support Overseas (VSO) at the weekend donated home-based care kits worth K1 million (about $5 988) to Lilongwe-based Nkhukwa Support Group, which is under the National Association of People Living with HIV and Aids in Malawi (Napham).

VSO senior programme manager responsible for HIV and Aids Steve Tahuna said they made the donation after noting that most home-based care (HBC) organisations have been negatively affected by the current drug shortage in Malawi.

Napham executive director Amanda Manjolo said the kit, which her association gets from various donors, will also be distributed to HBC organisations under Napham across the country.

She said it is clear that most HBC centres are failing to access health-care kits from government health-care centres.

The donated kits comprised drugs, soap, gloves and bandages, among others.
