Who wants to become the next coolest star?
If you are a young talented singer with amazing song-writing skills or a born actor/actress looking for a breakthrough, then this could be your chance to be part of the coolest and relevant youth icon revolution.
Audio Clinic Productions, Music Crossroads, Lake of Stars (LoS) and Rhythm of Life have teamed up to find the next young biggest stars.
“As media and creative industry professionals, we share a joint passion for nurturing youths’ talent and using our joint expertise as creative industry professionals with Malawi and international expertise in music and media to make a difference in the country.
“The youth are the biggest demographic in the country, but also they have the least opportunities. We want to create the biggest and most exciting youth media brand in Malawi—The Band.
“Both boys and girls will be in the band. The youth need a cool, dynamic and conscious media brand to give voice to them, to social issues and to be part of nurturing the positive impact in an increasingly progressive Malawi,” says Zilanie Gondwe, one of the organisers.
Being an initiative for the cool kids, application is strictly via WhatsApp video or voice note (singing) to the number 0991 928 629. Deadline for receiving applications is September 28.
Applicants for the initiative have to be aged between 17 and 22 years with those under 18 required to provide consent from their parents or guardians and be able to commit full time and available to travel throughout the country.
For audio, one needs to record themselves singing a song in a local language or English without backing from a compact disc (CD); however, one can play their own instrumental accompaniment.
For video, the applicant should record themselves acting a folktale, poem or a movie scene from a play or film in a monologue.
Those applying are required to include their name, age, phone number, gender and district.
The singing or acting performance is required to be submitted in one recording with a maximum length of two minutes.
