Back at Wits: Phiri

Phiri was loaned out to Platinum Stars last season while Mtizwa was   at Lamontville Golden Arrows

“The club is keeping open two of their five slots for foreign players as they seek further reinforcements, having this week signed on defender Slavko Damjanovic,” reads part of the report.

Phiri said in an interview from Johannesburg on Tuesday that he was waiting to hear from Wits.

“I have no idea on the club’s plans, but I am currently back at Wits,” he said.

The gangly midfielder enjoyed game time at Dikwena where he scored two goals last season

He was also outstanding for the Flames having scored in back-to-back games against Swaziland’s Sihlangu and Comoros in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which Malawi won by 1-0 margins.

Wits’ two other foreign players for next season are Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango from Malawi and English striker James Keene.

Meanwhile, Robin Ngalande has said he is yet to seal the deal with another PSL side Maritzburg United.

“Five days training with the team now and it’s been good so far, but not much to say for now,” he said.
