Woget Stars have secured a K3 million year-long sponsorship from Alliance Capital Limited. They become the second best sponsored team after MTL Queens who get close to K6 million per annum.

During the presentation of the cheque to the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) outfit, which has since been renamed Alliance Capital Stars, the firm’s investment and marketing manager Charity Mhango said they have signed a two-year sponsorship deal with the club and the package for the second year will be known in due course.

According to Mhango, apart from the financial package, which is for players’ upkeep allowances, transport to match venues and uniforms, they will also register the team as a legal entity and get all the players insured.

However, Mhango said the company would renew the contract if the team, which has been on fourth position in the league since 2010, breaks into the top-three within the next two years.

“Netball puts Malawi on the world map, so we want to have a hand in propping up the sport through sponsoring a team that can as also promote our brand,” she said.

On her part, the team’s chairperson Dalitso Ameera Chinyama thanked God for providing them a new benefactor in the name of Alliance Capital Limited.
