Woman in police custody over cocaine
Police at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) have arrested, Linda Chinula, 22, for allegedly importing two kilogrammes of cocaine.
KIA police spokesperson Sapulain Chitonde confirmed yesterday that the woman was arrested on Friday, upon disembarking from an Ethiopian Airlines flight, following a tipoff.
Chitonde said police found the contraband concealed in one of her hand luggages.
According to the police publicist, Chinula—a Lilongwebased businessperson—comes from Lambalamba Village, Traditional Authority Chindi, Mzimba.
She is currently in police custody awaiting court appearance. Illegal importation of dangerous drugs is an offence under Section 11(a) as read with Regulation 19 of Dangerous Drug Act.
