Speaking to The Nation from Area 23 in Lilongwe where he is staying, Kaka said all is well although he has to undergo regular checkups.

“I am fine, I was released from hospital last Friday. Of course, there are still some checkups which I will finish this week. I will be in Blantyre in two weeks time to start recording my new album Matolatola at CL Studio,” Kaka said.

He said because of the situation he has gone through, he will incorporate praises to the Lord for rescuing him from death.

“For the period I have been in the hospital, I have learnt a lot, I have known who my real friends and relatives are. More specifically, I am thanking God for sparing my life. I have a special song titled Ndidzamtamanda that I have dedicated to praise my Lord for the favour rendered to me,” said Kaka.

He revealed that two songs, Umunthu and the title track Matolatola have already been recorded.

“The album will not take much longer to be on the market, by April it will be out because some of the songs have already been recorded. My plan is that when I am getting back on stage, I should have full package of my new songs,” said Kaka.

The artist was involved in an accident on his way from a live music show in Mzimba, where he was performing alongside Zimbabwean artist Kez-D.

The artist was first referred to Mponela Hospital before transferred to Dowa District Hospital and later Kamuzu Central Hospital.

Kaka is well known for his stage displays and his rendition of Paul Chaphuka’s track Mayi Maria which he sings by changing voices to mimic other artists such as Charles Nsaku, Lucius Banda, Billy Kaunda, Mlaka Maliro and even Joseph Nkasa.

Kaka is such a crowd favourite that patrons inquired about him during a performance by Zembani Band and Organised Family at Key Lounge and Boma Park in Mzuzu last November.

The album on the offing will be the third one for Kaka since he launched his music career in 2007.

“Had it been that I was not in hospital, I planned to release my DVD by the end of December this year. However, I am urging my fans to still expect good things in this new album,” said Kaka.
