Former Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president and Chikwawa West parliamentarian John Zingale is admitted to Mlambe Mission Hospital and seeks financial assistance from well-wishers.

Hastings, his firstborn son in an interview with The Nation, said on Wednesday that his father was diagnosed with malaria and later was discovered that he is anaemic and is failing to eat properly due to stomach problems.

“He was first admitted to Chikwawa District Hospital and transferred to Mwanza before being taken to Mlambe on Sunday by Billy Tewesa where he is receiving treatment.

“We are asking the general public to assist us with funds to meet medical bills and we prefer to take him to Blantyre Adventist Hospital,” said Zingale.

FAM president Walter Nyamilandu yesterday said the association is aware of Zingale’s illness, “and we sent a delegation yesterday [Wednesday] led by our general secretary [Suzgo Nyirenda].

“His son has also been in touch with FAM and myself and we are discussing what kind of assistance to provide. Our prayers are with him and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
