Northern Region Boxing Committee (NRBC) has organised an international bout this Sunday at Obrigado Leisure Park in Mzuzu between Tanzanian lightweight Six Bruno Mwakalinga and Ernest Musoliza.

According to NRBC chairperson Stewart Moyo, both boxers are professionally ranked in their respective countries.

Moyo told The Nation that Mwakalinga has fought 24 bouts, winning 18 while Musoliza has fought 10 bouts, winning nine.

“This is an international non-title bout meant to assess our boxer on how he can perform in international bouts. We have selected the two professional boxers to give us a good benchmark on how we will progress with our programme,” said Moyo.

He further revealed that the committee will also use this bout to assess amateur boxers who will fight in supporting bouts.

“As a committee, we want to use this international bout to spot other talents. We have lined up amateur boxers such as Williams, Lewis, Mwayi and Patrick. They will be monitored if they can rank professional status,” said Moyo.

The bout will be staged on eight-round fighting treat.

Coach for Musoliza, Gabriel Tembo, said preparations are going on well.

“The boxer is picking up well and I am sure that we will carry the day. We can assure our fans that they should expect good performance,” said Tembo.
