The University of Malawi (Unima) has expelled eight students from one of its four constituent colleges, Chancellor College (Chanco), after they were allegedly caught cheating during the last end of semester examinations. Unima spokesperson Alinane Khonje said yesterday through a written response, the eight were sent home on academic disciplinary grounds. The affected students (names withheld) were in years one to four pursuing various programmes, including education, social science and human resource management. Khonje said the students took into the examination room assorted materials which were not permissible. But Khonje said the students were free to appeal the decision to the university senate.
