The 2015 TNM Super League opening week’s five games registered 16 goals, seven goals less than 22 goals in seven matches netted at a similar stage last season.

The less number of games played in the opening week for the 2015 season could explain the drop in goals.

bullets_silverSo far, Moyale Barracks lead the 15-team table on four points from two games.

Moyale drew 1-1 with Dedza Young Soccer Stars on Saturday and then defeated fellow soldiers Kamuzu Barracks through a Dan Katunga goal on Sunday.

Luke Muyawa scored for Moyale on Saturday after the Dedza hosts’ Willard Dickson had given his side the early lead.

The footprints of the soldiers continue in the early stages of the league as Red Lions and Mafco are the only teams yet to collect the ball from the back of the net.

The Lions beat Civo United 2-0 through Innocent Bokosi’s double on Saturday to maintain a clean sheet alongside Mafco who edged out Azam Tigers 1-0 on Sunday through Richard Mbulu’s effort.

On Saturday, Blue Eagles were the highest scorers having defeated Surestream FC 4-2 at Kamuzu Stadium where John Malidadi Junior, brother to late Dick, became leading scorer with a first hat-trick of the season.

Bokosi comes second on the race to score more than 18 goals this season. So far, Civo are the only one team yet to score this far and find themselves bottom.
