A different kind of Christmas
The biggest party season of all is almost here. Invites for this and that party are already flying in. In fact, some people have already held their Christmas parties. It is the season to be jolly.
As much as we would like for things to be “business as usual” this holiday, planning for Christmas this year requires a little more work to keep guests happy and healthy.
Christmas will certainly look different this year. For some, the usual family Christmas dinners will have one or two empty chairs around the table—a family member lost to Covid-19. It will be a different, and a bit unusual, kind of celebration for many.
In a year of the unexpected, one thing has come to be expected—change. As the number of Covid-19 cases have started picking up again, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect themselves and others. We have to accept that this year’s festive season has to be different from the previous ones.
It cannot be the usual kind of celebration—big parties with large numbers of people. It is actually much safer to stay home and celebrate with those you live with than going out.
However, even with Covid-19 still on the horizon, it doesn’t mean you cannot celebrate Christmas. The key to a safe and healthy Covid Christmas plans is to keep them as intimate as possible. Limit the number of guests. The fewer people you invite, the less the risk you pose for you and your guests. Instead of hosting indoor parties, think of outdoor parties.
Many people have relaxed in following Covid-19 preventive measures, if you are one of them, this festive season ensures that you follow them to the letter. Wear mask, sanitise and frequently wash your hands. If you are hosting a party ensure you provide these for your guests.
This year, apart from being cautious with how you spend money during the festive season, you also have to be cautious so that you don’t catch the Covid virus.
The best 2020 Christmas gift you could ever give your loved ones is protection from Covid-19—by not exposing them to the virus. This festive season is not just a season to make merry; it is also a season to ensure that we all stay safe and healthy.
Wishing everyone Merry Christmas and a Covid-free 2021.
