Three men were yesterday discovered dead and dumped on Kaunda Road in Lilongwe.

Police have suggested a case of hit-and-run incident.

The discovery came a week after a former enumerator in the ongoing Population and Housing Census was found dead in a bush near Bingu National Stadium (BNS), along the same road where the three deceased persons were found.

Police arrive at the scene where the bodies were dumped

Lilongwe Police Station spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula confirmed the deaths of the three, saying two of them were from Chinsapo, but could not give more details.

He said: “Briefly, what I can say is that an unidentified motorist hit the three, but he did not stop. The deceased persons sustained head injuries and their bodies are being kept at Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary.”

The social media is awash with reports that the three were killed somewhere else and were dumped near Kaunda Road Filling Station.

A week ago, Blessings Ng’ambi, who was hired by National Statistical Office as an enumerator in the ongoing census, was found dead near BNS with part of his body burnt.

In April last year, a man, his expectant wife and their daughter were beheaded in a forest at Bunda, also in Lilongwe.

National Advocacy Platform (NSP) chairperson Benedicto Kondowe said the recent cases are an indication that government is not doing enough to secure lives of Malawians.

But Dandaula said police will investigate the matter.
