Police officers expected to go for a peacekeeping mission to Darfur have been urged to demonstrate excellent work and maintain a high sense of discipline.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of an 11-day training of 50 officers at Kanjedza Police Training School in Blantyre, commissioner of police for Southern Region, Lexten Kachama, said Malawi has a reputation for good discipline during such operations.
“You will have to maintain this culture of discipline the country is known for.

You should also look seriously into what was involved in your training and remember that your main responsibility is to help others,” said Kachama.
One of the trainers, Meressa Kahsu, who is training and research coordinator at Institute for Security Studies in Ethiopia, expressed satisfaction at the performance of the trainees.
He said it is a UN requirement that officers have redeployment training before they go for peacekeeping missions.
According to Kahsu, the training, funded by the Norwegian government, offered the officers knowledge in international relations, tactical skills, human rights and communication skills, among other courses.
