Man arrested over Fisp fertilizer

Police in Blantyre on Sunday arrested 24 year old Thomson Sydreck for allegedly being found in possession of 30 bags of fertilizer suspected to be part of the Farm Input Subsidy programme (Fisp).

In an interview on Sunday, Blantyre Police Public Relations Officer Elizabeth Divala said they received a tip that Sydreck was keeping bags of fertilizers in his house at Nancholi which he was secretly selling to vendors in the area.arrest

Police have since seized the fertilizer bags which include 13 bags of Urea and 17bags of NPK, according to Divala.

Divala said investigations on the matter are ongoing.  Sydreck hails from Kalombola village in the area of Traditional Authority  Kadewere in Chiradzulu.

He will be taken to court soon to answer charges of being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen.
