Gyan says pressure on Flames

Ghana’s Black Stars leading striker Asamoah Gyan has said the pressure is on the Flames in the October 13 decisive qualifying return match for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars won the first leg 2-0 through strikers from Christian Atsu and Anthony Annan; hence, Gyan’s sentiments published on Ghana Football Association website.

“It is also important to realise that we have won by what should be a good result even if we could not score as many as we wanted. They [Malawi] now have an arduous task to beat us by three goals and prevent us from scoring, but I know we have top players to punish them,” Gyan told www.ghanafa.org.

The Black Stars lead the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie, but Gyan is well aware of the threat posed by the Flames, especially when they will be at home in the return leg.

However, the Ghana striker has faith in the abilities of his colleagues to see the Black Stars through.

“I know we have quality players playing regularly at their clubs. I can assure Ghanaians that we will go there to qualify.”

The aggregate winner advances to next year’s finals in South Africa.

Flames have since regrouped ahead of the return match scheduled for Civo Stadium.

Midfielder Robert Ng’ambi said it was possible to get a good result on October 13 as long the Flames score, but do not concede any goal.
