‘Mainstream HIV, Aids issues’

The Malawi Network of Aids Service Organisations (Manaso) has called on organisations and businesses to mainstream HIV and Aids issues in view of erratic funding.

Manaso acting coordinator Donald Makwakwa said this in Mzuzu on Monday during orientation of HIV and Aids mainstreaming for civil society organisations.

He said organisations will use  available resources in mainstreaming HIV and Aids issues.

“In the past, mainstreaming was not an issue because there was a lot of funding. And now that we are facing donor challenges, we are calling on organisations that offer different services to help in the fight of HIV and Aids by making the interventions part of normal and routine  functions of a sector or organisation,” said Makwakwa.

He said various products should be branded with HIV and Aids messages to reach many people at a low cost.

“If you put an HIV and Aids message on a product, anyone who buys it or gets hold of it will see the message. This will help in prevention and as such companies will benefit as they will not lose out their customers to HIV and Aids,” said Makwakwa.
