After successfully launching Abweranso album, gospel acappella group Joyful Souls takes it to Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, at the Sheaffer Conference Hall on Sunday September 9 2012.

The first launch took place at the Robin’s Park in the commercial city, Blantyre, where a capacity crowd witnessed the group’s grand comeback following a four-year silence.

Abweranso is the outfit’s third album. The previous two are Tidzauluka from 2005 and 2008’s Adzaweluza.

“The silence was because the group was revisiting its acappella touch to suit the current trends following advice from SDA church elders and its fans,” said the group’s spokesperson Lloyd Kaisi Phiri.

“It’s the first album for the group with all acappella songs. The songs are a selection from popular hymns of various denominations, but they are re-arranged and sung in Joyful Souls’ way.

“The message in the songs is about Jesus Christ, that is His second coming, and what He is doing in the holy of holies right now,” he added.

Currently, Chiweruziro, Abweranso and Pakwitana are enjoying massive airplay on various radio stations in the country.
