Agra hails Bunda on programmes

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (Agra) has commended Bunda College of Agriculture for what it called ‘a smooth and competent leadership’ in promoting sustainable agriculture in the country through education.

Under its education and training programmes, Agra is providing and supporting Master’s of Science fellowships and strengthening curricula in several agricultural disciplines, including soil health, plant breeding and agronomy in about 13 universities across the continent.

Speaking on Friday when she met the faculty and some of the students in the programmes at Bunda, Agra education and training programme officer Dr Marie Rarieya expressed gratitude at how the institution is facilitating the programmes.

In his remarks, Bunda College Agra project manager Dr James Bokosi said the initiative is timely as it intends to address the shortage of scientists and researchers in the two areas of specialisation, which he said is critical in the two countries.
