Airtel launches Mwezi Wawala video in style

After pre-launch activities such as pre-launch happy hour shows that were held at Alpacino’s, Blue Elephant and other nightclubs in the country and shooting a cover video Mwezi Wawala starring Airtel employees, including Airtel’s CEO, the mobile company on Saturday premiered the official music video for Mwezi Wawala at Country Club Limbe (CCL).

It was a double celebration as the premiere fell on the eve of Malawi’s Independence Day.

Performing at the event was BlackJakk who gave an energetic performance performing his line in Mwezi Wawala before performing Amnjiba Alowe, Wadya Iwe and Manda Ankhuku.

Ethel Kamwendo performed her manganje clad hits which saw patrons locked in a dance mode.

Patience Namadingo did not give the patrons’ time to rest as he gave a performance of his hit songs such as Mtendere which he performed in various arrangements ranging from kwasakwasa, hip hop, to reggae.

Faith Mussa performed some of his songs such as Desperate and Pamudzi Pano which got the patrons in a trance.

Lucius Banda gave a performance worth remembering, before Tay Grin hoped on stage to give the fans a musical dosage of fun.

After the official premiere of the video at the end of the performances, Airtel took the party to Kaya Lounge.

Gracing the party was Airtel’s top boss Heikko Schlittke.

“As a brand we are committed to promoting arts and we thought it wise as well to celebrate with the nation in this special year. Music connects people and beats many barriers and so, with Mwezi Wawala, it is all about celebrating, connecting and unleashing endless possibilities,” Airtel Malawi’s managing director Heikko Schlittke explained.

Tapps Bandawe of Audio Vision 360 who masterminded the project, said the video, has been submitted at international leading TV channels like Trace, MTV Base and Channel O.

“At 50 years as a nation, this Mwezi Wawala music video surely testifies that we have come out of the cocoon with a masterpiece which is destined to set a benchmark in the showbiz industry,” said Tapps.

Meanwhile, Times TV and MBC TV have premiered the MweziWawala music video.
