Airtel Rising Stars zone finals, Saturday

Airtel Rising Stars Action (ARS) resumes this Saturday with zone finals taking place in all the regions of the country.

According to Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) general secretary Blackson Malamula, arrangements for one of the richest schools tournament have been completed.

“So far, ARS is still at zone level with the finals on this coming Saturday. District finals are expected to take place on June 7. Other dates remain the same,” said Malamula.

He also announced that Central West Education Division (Ceed)finals will take place at Kasungu Teachers College (TTC).Central West Education Division (Cwed) matches will take place at Kamuzu Institute for Sports, Northern Education Division (NED), Shire Highlands Education Division (Shed) will be hosted at Mulanje Boma Park, South West Education Division (Shwed) and South East Education Division (Seed).

The national finals will take place on the June 28 at Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe.

“We thank Airtel Malawi for their commitment to contribute towards football development at grassroots level. The success of the tournament is being translated into the Malawi Under-20. I believe their objective is being realised. As Massa we are grateful,” said Malamula.

He added that the benefits of the sponsorship are not limited to sports alone but also the health aspect.

“The youngsters are kept fit as football is an exercise on itself so we are looking at many benefits here,” he explained.

Massa has since appealed to all division to ensure there is no age cheating as that is detrimental towards the growth of the game.
