Atcheya can be of big help at Wanderers

Listen to this article
Illness is not a laughing matter and to borrow part of the late Paul Chaphuka’s lyrics from his hit song, ‘…matenda ngowawa, matenda ngozunza.”
It was, therefore, so relieving to see former president Bakili Muluzi last Wednesday looking buoyant on his arrival from South Africa on a tour of duty.
For a man who has been immensely troubled with backache for many months, on Wednesday ‘Atcheya’ looked a better soul, walking majestically without the aid of his cane.
Surely, ‘Atcheya’ must have heeded my advice that apart from the attention of top hospitals in the region, it works well to spend sometime on ‘push-ups’ regularly—ndatitu ma ‘push-ups’ asaah!
Atcheya’s improving condition is certainly good for a former president who is challenged with peace-keeping trips across the continent.
Osayiwalanso tintchito tina tofuna msana wamphamvu. Get me right here! These other tasks include sorting out the mess at his former football club Mighty Wanderers, where he once served as general secretary.
As one of mikoko yogona at the club, surely he can find time to search for a new lease of life in the blue side of town. He has a peace-keeping function at the now disturbed beehive Lali Lubani Road outfit.
After all, the club’s former chairperson Humphrey Mvula last week noted that the Nomads have a huge reservoir of people who can be looked up to in terms of technical, financial or administrative directions.
Mvula said the team should consider calling for an all-inclusive meeting to chart the way forward and that meeting should include people who served in different capacities.
Perhaps, Mvula could also advise the Nomads to visit the sing’anga who used to offer the team charms in his tenure in the 1980s, when they would dance around the fire all-night long in birthday suits as part of the prescription.
On a lighter note, I have secured a bicycle for the former president so that he can use it as a taxi [kabaza] between Limbe and his BCA base to complement his daily exercises. Uloliwe.Uloliwe! Uloliwe wayidudula hi..nang’esiza! [the train is pushing!]
