If I were

Atupele Muluzi

United Democratic Front (UDF) national chairperson and Minister of Economic Planning and Development, I would realise that it will be difficult to continue serving a government that I plan to contest with during the 2014 elections.

Much as I want to continue serving the government, I would appreciate that I cannot effectively campaign for the 2014 presidential race while serving in my prospective opponent Joyce Banda’s government.

How I wish I were Atupele, because I would realise the harsh reality that there is potential conflict of interest.

I would further realise the possibility of being treated with suspicion in the event that things do not go well in my ministry which deals with the key area of economy.

If only I were Atupele, I would give the issue of my association with the present government a huge amount of thought for my own political good.

I would further realise that it will be difficult to campaign against a government for which I am a key minister.

That is if only I were Atupele Muluzi. Unfortunately, I am not n’jomba Atupele.
