Female boxer Anisha Bashir’s World Boxing Council (WBC) silver lightweight bout against Scottish Chantelle Cameron has been moved from June 28 to July 20 in London, England.

In an interview on Friday, Bashir said the development has forced her to return home from Zimbabwe where she was training at Clyed Musonda’s Delta Force Boxing Academy.

Bashir: I am working hard

“It was very intense training covering every aspect of my fight. They have good training facilities in Zimbabwe and Mr. Msonda is a very experienced trainer and I learnt a lot from him. But now I am back and will keep on training,” she said.

Bashir said the bout will expose her to professional matchmakers from Europe and the US.

“I am working so hard. This is a great stage for me. A win can open up the world of boxing for me. It’s a great opportunity and I need to utilise it,” she said.

No Pain No Gain Promotion director Craig Rousseau, who manages the boxer, said the changes will not affect Bashir

“She works hard and trains hard. This is an important fight which might open up a lot of opportunities for her and big fights might come her way that is why we sent her to Zimbabwe so she can have good preparations,” he said.
