Mulanje Last Boxing Promotions (MLBP) has disclosed that BAT Ground in Blantyre will host a professional boxing championships on May 26.

MLBP manager Mike Chitenje told The Nation yesterday that the contest has been arranged to give a platform to boxers promoters overlook because of “not having a name in the local boxing arena”.

“All boxers wishing to take part in this competition should just get set for the showdown because everything is in place. Winners are assured of prizes.

“The boxers will not wait for gate collections to get their dues because such funds are already available courtesy of the Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF),” Chitenje said.

According to Chitenje, the best performers in each of the nine weight categories would also be given an opportunity to fight against foreign boxers in a yet to be finalised international boxing bonanza in August.
