BB, Dynamos in a stalemate
Nyasa Big Bullets on Sunday managed to preserve their supremacy over visiting Zimbabwe side Dynamos FC after a goalless draw at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Bullets stepped into the pitch with confidence following a 1-0 victory over the visitors at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday, courtesy of George Nyirenda’s goal.
But they failed to replicate the performance against Dynamos, who though hit by fatigue, were excellent on tactical discipline displaying some organised football and a couple of times were denied by the post.
Bullets coach Franco Ndawa made some changes to the squad, resting Owen Chaima and opting for Ernest Kakhobwe in goals.
Upfront the coach maintained Chiukepo Msowoya and Muhammad Sulumba and the partnership, though not very potent, looks promising.
Sulumba could have easily put Bullets ahead in the 26th minute but he was late to connect a Dalitso Sailesi cross.
The duo was replaced by Niyikiza Aimable and Diverson Mlozi late in the second half.
Fischer Kondowe, Chiku Kanyenda, Dalitso Sailesi and Saturday goal scorer Nyirenda also started.
Kondowe and Sailesi were impressive in the wings as did Nyirenda as an attacking midfielder.
In the second half, Davie Ng’ambi, Miracle Gabeya and Amadu Makawa came in for Kanyenda, Kondowe and Nyirenda.
Yamikani Fodya was introduced towards the end of the match, but his contribution did not yield the much needed goals.
Bullets team manager Raheem Ishmael expressed satisfaction with the play.
“It’s a promising team. From this we can be confident of a good season. We’ll still build the team though, “said Ishmael.
Obey Mwenahari, Jimmy Zingai and Tichaona Champunza were also outstanding for Dynamos but coach Paolo Jorge de Silva blamed the poor showing “because he was testing new players”.
In Blantyre, Wizards FC stunned Be Forward Wanderers 2-1 in a friendly match played at Kamuzu Stadium yesterday.
Coach Jack Chamangwana started Bester Phiri in goals, Francis Mlimbika, Kondwani Lufeyo, Bongani Kaipa and Peter Nselema in defence.
In the midfield, he featured Ernest Tambe, Patrick Gunde, Isaac Kaliyati and Rafiq Namwela.
Jabulani Linje and Peter Wadabwa were deployed upfront.
Japanese player Genki Nakamula, who is undergoing trials at the Lali Lubani outfit, did not play.
