BB, Nomads dominate select side

Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers players have dominated the 18-member squad that will play Super League champions Kamuzu Barracks  to celebrate 10 years of TNM’s top-flight league sponsorship. The match will be played on Saturday at Civo Stadium.

The squad, which was chosen by fans countrywide through SMS votes, has 10 and five players from the People’s Team and the Nomads respectively.

Will take charge of the select side: Osman

Seasoned coach Yasin Osman and Elia Kananji will be in charge of the select side that has goalkeepers Ernest Kakhobwe (BB) and Richard Chipuwa (Wanderers). Defenders include Stanley Sanudi (Wanderers), Lucky Malata (free agent), Miracle Gabeya, Yamikani Fodya, John Lanjesi and  Pilirani Zonda ( all from BB),

The fans have picked midfielders Joseph Kamwendo (Wanderers), Mike Mkwate, Fischer Kondowe, Dalitso Sailesi ( BB) and Silver Strikers duo Thuso Paipi and Victor Limbani. Richard Mbulu (Mafco), Peter Wadabwa and Jaffalie Chande (Wanderers) and Chiukepo Msowoya (BB) will play upfront.

However,Gabeya, Kamwendo, Chiukepo and Wadabwa are on trials outside the country while Mbulu has joined a Mozambican club and will miss the action. But reserves Isaac Kaliati and Francis Mlimbika (Wanderers), Muhammad Sulumba and Mussa Manyenje (BB) Gastin Simkonda (Moyale) are available to replace them.

TNM senior manager for business services Limbani Nsapato said the promotion received overwhelming response which demonstrates that supporters have been a key component to the 10-year journey.

He said: “I would like to applaud supporters for embracing this promotion and demonstrating that they passionately follow football and know their players. We received a lot of votes to this select team which is expected to go into camp in Lilongwe before meeting KB.”

The winning team will be rewarded with K2 million by TNM.

“TNM invites all football loving Malawians to grace the match and be part of 10 years celebration because apart from the game itself, TNM has lined up a number of activities to keep fans entertained,” he said.

According to Nsapato, the charges for the game are K500 for open stands, K1 000 for covered and K3 000 for VIP.

Other activities lined up for the celebration include unveiling of a TV documentary that relives the last decade and a K3 million-worth donation to Dowa Hospital by the champions.

The day will climax with a cocktail where 2016 season winners and outstanding individuals and teams will be decorated.

Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda said the selection of awardees for the 2016 TNM Super League season was underway.

“There is a panel comprising individuals of high integrity including Sulom officials, sports journalists and analysts that is responsible for the process,” he said.n
