Ian Bhambra emerged winner of the Wednesday Ball Pool that was sponsored by G4S at Blantyre Sports Club.

With a score of 21 points, Bhambra saw off a field of 68 other golfers.

Bhambra was overwhelmed by his feat and ran short of words as he delivered his victory speech.

“I would like to thank the sponsors and the golf committee. I think I was just lucky today,” was all Bhambra could say when he was persuaded to speak.

He went away with a trophy and a G4S-branded braai kit with all accessories.

In the ladies category, Charity Kachilira emerged the winner after outclassing seven other participants. She had 19 points and that earned her a G4S-branded golf bag and a trophy.

Hitler Sigauke was the overall runner-up with 20 points. He got a G4S-branded golf bag and a trophy. He was followed by John Suzi Banda who counted out Masauko Msungama and Victor Jere. They also went away with assorted prizes.

In subsidiary prizes, Sam Mwale had the longest drive while Justice John Katsala was nearest to the pin. There was only one two-club that was awarded to Dingaan Chirwa. He sunk an eagle 2 on the par four 7th hole.

G4S commercial director Collin Patterson expressed his appreciation for the massive turnout.

“I am humbled with the turnout. I cannot believe that we had a total of 69 players,” he said.

Patterson also pledged continued sponsorship, saying they had been encouraged by the turn out.

This was G4S’ third ball pool this year, making them the biggest sponsor of the year.
