The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) had its first plenary meeting at the Catholic Secretariat last week where, among others, it discussed matters pertaining to the Catholic University.

The ECM, which is an umbrella body of Catholic bishops in Malawi, also discussed its preparations for next year’s conference for the Association Member of Episcopal Conferences in East Africa (Amecea) which will take place in Malawi.

ECM is chaired by Bishop Joseph Zuza.

A statement signed by ECM secretary general Father George Buleya said the bishops’ meeting, which ran from January 28 to February 1, 2013, also discussed and endorsed Catechetical Resource Handbook, Complementary Norms, and Diocesan Priests’ Spirituality and Constitution.

The nine bishops also discussed progress of the activities proposed for the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XV1 running from October 11 2012 to November 24 2013.
