Blantyre Police in double recovery

Blantyre Police have made a double recovery by arresting suspects in possession of 37 cartons of assorted medical supplies as well as five 50 kilogramme(kg) bags of Indian hemp.

Said Blantyre police spokesperson Elizabeth Divala:  “We have arrested Flora Salijeni [26] from Madabwada Village,Traditional Authority (T/A) Mabuka in Mulanje District as well as Christopher Michael from the same village on the offence of bringing in property dishonestly from outside the country contrary to Section 331 of the Medicines and Poisons Control Board.

medicine“We found them with 37 cartons of assorted medical supplies that we have reason to believe were smuggled in from outside the country.”

Divala said they were tipped off that there was a Toyota Ipsum which was being loaded with suspicious materials at Kameza. She said: “We have since arrested two suspects and these are 70-year-old Joseph Jimu China from Kalumbi Village in T/A Tengani in Nsanje and Esther Tembo (30) from Bilira Village in T/A Makwangwala in Ntcheu District.

Said Divala: “We would like to thank the public for their tips which have borne fruit.” n
