Blantyre Rotaracts celebrate Xmass with Orphans

The Rotaract Club of Blantyre had an early Christmas celebration with orphans at Namasimba Orphanage in Blantyre when they spoiled them with gifts and a sumptuous luncheon on Sunday.
Rotaract Club of Blantyre Spokesperson Margaret Munthali said they decided to treat the Orphans as Namasimba Orphanage, which has 134 kids, is close to the hearts of the Rotaracts, a young version of Blantyre Rotary Club.

“Footwear shop kept shoe boxes for us for months in which we put toys and clothes for each individual child to enjoy the joy of unwrapping Christmas present specially for them,” said Munthali.
“We also donated sugar, margarine, Vaseline, clothes, soap, big toys donated by Mrs. Latif, 5 bins donated by Arkay Plastics,” added Munthali.

She said they also served a Christmas lunch as well so that the function was not just giving out presents.
“Superior Halaal donated 100 Hungarian sausages which were part of the meal we served before handing over the presents. We even had a Santa Claus (Father Christmas) handing out the individual presents,” said Munthali
“We would like to thank everyone who helped turn this idea of ours into a reality we look forward to more community service work in 2015 and have several projects lined up. Namasimba COB is close to our hearts, we have facilitated the payment of their water bill and electricity bill and reconnection of the same,” said Munthali.
