“We have given the team all the support to prepare for the tournament and we are looking forward to good results,” he said.

Kalua said they got the invitation from BAZ president Konrad Msonda, who watched the Malawian team during the B-Ball Kita basketball tournament in Tanzania early this year.

BHBT took part in the tournament alongside Malawi national champions Bricks and beat one of the top Tanzanian teams.

Basketball Association of Malawi (Basmal) has since given the club a go-ahead to travel to Zambia.

Basmal general secretary Edgar Ng’ong’ola confirmed that the club has received the blessings from the mother body.

“They are actually travelling with a representative from Basmal and we hope they will represent us well. The good thing with Brave Hearts is that they always engage us as the national association in their programmes,” said Ng’ong’ola.

He said the trip would offer the Malawian team international exposure, which is important for the development of the sport.

The team’s trip is being fully funded by the printing experts as well as G.Y Imports and Exports, who are dealers in ICT equipment, furniture, stationery and other domestic appliances.
