BT United strikers sure of league victory

Blantyre United twin strikers Sparrow Msowoya and Brown Mizeye are confident that their team will win the 2012/ 2013 TNM Super League championship.

The two have been scoring in almost each game lately, helping United to go top on the log table.

United have 42 points, two more than Silver, but the latter have three games in hand.

Msowoya is the joint leading goalscorer with Vincent Chinthenga of Bvumbwe Research at 12 goals whereas Mizeye is second with 11 goals.

Msowoya said team-work was the secret behind United’s wonderful season.

“We do not have sponsors and we are struggling financially, but we love the game and that is why we sacrifice a lot to get results. We have no big-name players and we work hard as a family.

“Our chairperson Mr. [Lawson] Nakoma has invested his money and time in the team, so we need to pay him back. We will not give away points easily. Our performance has shown that it is possible we can win the league if we maintain the pace,” said Msowoya.

Mizeye said that they are not under pressure to win their remaining games.

“We just have to win all our remaining games then see what will happen with the rest of the teams,” said Mizeye.

He added that either of them will win the top goalscorer award.

“It is going to be me or Sparrow. We are in top form and we have been scoring easily of late. Our team has scored 33 goals and I and Sparrow have jointly scored 23 of them. With that record, I believe we deserve the award,” he said.
